Iosef Ivanovici - Waves of the Danube

£10 plus postage

This CD has been produced as a joint venture between this Society and the Romanian Johann Strauss Society and is the first ever recording of works by Iosef (Josef) Ivanovici, the Romanian 'Johann Strauss'. Other than the Waves of the Danube (sometimes known as The Anniversay Song), none of his other music is known and has never been recorded. This is a fully authentic production, produced in 2004 in the composer's home city, using the latest digital technology. This CD is therefore a world 'first and provides an excellent introduction to his music. Ivanovici wrote some 350 works, but most have been lost and we are continuing our research to find and bring back to the public some of the wonderful melodies he created. The recordings on this CD are of those pieces that were available, many of the shorter items have been arranged by the well known British maestro John Georgiadis, conductor of the New Year Concerts at the Barbican in London.
