News on recordings

Our milestone projects with Naxos are to be concluded with a final recording session for Eduard Strauss Volume 2 and Contemporaries of the Strauss family Volume 4 in early 2018.  This series has been recorded by the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice conducted by John Georgiadis and represents another significant advance in the recording of Viennese music to very high standards, and are issued on the Marco Polo label.

Eduard Strauss I “A centenary celebration” contains 13 excellent numbers, 10 of which have never been recorded before.

Contemporaries of the Strauss Family Volume 3 comprises some 13 new numbers. All are world première recordings with full orchestra.

Our recording projects continue with the Ziehrer Stiftung and the Original C.M.Ziehrer orchestra conducted by Hans Schadenbauer with the release of Volume 24 Alt – Wien, and Volume 25 Heut ist Heut in 2017. A further recording is planned for 2018.

A joint venture to record Franz von Suppè’s rare operetta ‘A trip to Africa’, produced by Dario Salvi and his Imperial Viennese Orchestra and singers in late 2016 enabled its release in early 2017 on two CDs which are available through the Society.
