If you love Strauss and Viennese Music

"You have come to the right site where there is more to be found than anywhere else"

Whether the music is on CD, DVD, a live concert, an operetta, or appears on the internet, or you play an instrument at home or in an ensemble we are here to serve both the enthusiast and the professional.

The Johann Strauss Society of Great Britain was founded in 1964 and keeps you musically informed and up to date. We retain close connections with Vienna and you will find potted biographies of all the Strauss family composers, together with their main contemporaries and in many cases drop down lists of compositions. Our events page lists ‘whats on’ around the world, with links, and details of past and present Vienna New Year Concerts. You can also listen to samples of our own CD releases, and view a detailed index to our publications. Our Honorary Patron is Thomas Strauss.

We operate a non profit making music hire service for orchestras and an archive listing can be found under ‘scores‘ which contains much hard to find material.

Please feel free to contact us for any enquiries.

Online membership of only £22 per year brings a whole lot more:

Membership is annual from date of application. Please use the ‘buy’ tab to access our Paypal facility, which also accepts secure credit card payment.  You will get your password and login details with your email confirmation. Alternatively please enquire via ‘Contact us’.

The more members we have, the better the service we can provide. We are non-profit making and have a worldwide membership.  We have sponsored and researched a huge amount of music that would otherwise have never been played or recorded.

We are connected to many professional orchestras and organisations and the music covers the wide range of ‘light popular’ from Sousa and Rosas in the Americas to European contemporaries including those from Austria, Germany, France, Spain, the Czech Rebublic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, and many other countries.
